Hoteliers open doors to help those fighting COVID-19
Despite plummeting occupancy and revenue, many hoteliers have stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic to help others.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the hospitality industry has been hit especially hard. Shifting patients who may need less care to other facilities, such as hotels, may help state governments and health care facilities prevent a possible shortage of hospital beds. Hotels are housing health care workers, vulnerable groups, displaced students, first responders, and other key workers who are especially effected COVID-19. In San Diego, the Homewood Suites Del Mar and the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Marcos, have stepped up to provide rooms to those vulnerable groups.
Hotels across the state are now working with their local health departments to help provide housing and resources for patients and ‘at risk’ individuals who need to self-isolate.
